TURN OFF THE TECH

So. If you’re like me, you probably have a serious love affair with your phone. We love to stay connected, snap pictures of our adorable littles, and share them with everyone we know. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. But. Sometimes being plugged-in leaves us out of touch with what’s real, and what’s right in front of us. Our phones can also feed our FOMO, and leave us wondering if everyone else has it more together than we do (spoiler alert: they don’t).

So today, put the phone down. Just for a few minutes. Allow yourself to be immersed in the moment of whatever is going on around you. Hear the sweet baby gurgles and giggles. Sing a song. Smell your toddler’s hair. Stroke their impossibly smooth skin.

When you do go back to your phone, pay attention to that experience too. Notice how the device feels in your hand. Attune yourself to your emotional state - are you bored, sad, anxious? Has it become a habit that you don’t even notice? Allow yourself time to check in on the online world, and do so without self-judgement. But also allow yourself a break from the silent noise of social media and just be.
